Recharge Baltimore Housing Summit 2025: A Powerful Day of Collaboration, Connection, and Commitment

More than 200 attendees joined the Maryland Mortgage Bankers and Brokers Association (MMBBA) for a full-day summit dedicated to advancing housing opportunity, equity, and revitalization across Baltimore City.
Setting the Stage for Progress
The day opened with breakfast and networking, followed by a welcome from Tim Gough and Gene Frazier of MMBBA, who framed the conversation around the power of collaboration in building strong, equitable communities.
The Opening Address, “More Than a Campus — Coppin’s Housing Impact in Motion,” featured Councilman James Torrance and Dr. Chanta Haywood (Coppin State University), highlighting Coppin’s expanding role in neighborhood revitalization.
Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott delivered an inspiring keynote, “A Blueprint for Progress — Housing, Equity, and Citywide Momentum,” emphasizing the City’s commitment to strengthening neighborhoods and ensuring access to quality housing for all residents.
Otis Rolley, CEO of the Baltimore Development Corporation, followed with a Strategic Outlook Briefing on executing equitable economic development and supporting inclusive growth.
Dynamic Panels and Engaging Discussions
Throughout the day, attendees participated in panels and spotlights featuring leaders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
- Street-Level Reality Check — Practitioner Panel (Moderator: Councilwoman Odette Ramos) with Wayne Davis, Larry McMillan, Hope Mims, and Richard Pazornik.
- Tools That Unlock Opportunity with Catherine Kraemer-Dale, Mia Conyer, and Jordan Klumpp, highlighting grants and incentives for homebuyers and developers.
- From Blueprint to Breakthrough featuring Thibault Manekin, Venroy July, and Secretary Jake Day, sharing real-world lessons in neighborhood revitalization.
After a networking lunch, the afternoon program spotlighted Alice Kennedy (Baltimore City DHCD), Shelonda Stokes (Downtown Partnership), and Del N. Scott Phillips, followed by sessions on the roles of anchor institutions, CDFIs, and faith-based organizations in expanding opportunity and building equitable pipelines for Baltimore’s housing future.
Closing Connections and Continuing the Conversation
The summit concluded with remarks from Gene Frazier, encouraging attendees to carry forward the day’s momentum and continue collaborating on solutions that drive meaningful impact.
To wrap up the day, attendees gathered for off-site evening mixers at The Legacy on Gilmor and The Be Lounge, connecting with peers and exploring local redevelopment projects firsthand.
